So I forgot there was an Apple Mac event today

by Justin Horn on Oct 20th, 2010 @ 10:21 am

I didn’t forget the “Back to Mac” all together, but had no idea it was today. I’m sure most Apple bloggers remember when events are coming up, but for some reason it just slipped my mind until my fellow When Will Apple writer Chiyin reminded me. I understand this is just my personal experience, but I think it’s indicative of where technology is moving. Mac is the past, iOS is the future.

I remember reading many years ago that the desktops days were numbered and laptops were the future, which the numbers later backed up. Now it seems it’s happening all over again, but this time moving from “bulky” laptops, like the MacBook Air,  to smaller tablet devices, like the iPad. I believe Apple is in the strongest position in this new market, even more so then they are with the traditional laptop market, and that’s got a lot of other companies scrambling to exist in this new future.

New page in honor of the delay in Skype video chat for iPhone 4

by Justin Horn on Oct 15th, 2010 @ 1:05 pm

I actually created this page shortly after the iOS 4 multitasking Skype app was released, but never got around to publicizing it.  Before the iOS 4 release, we jumped all over the delay with and 30 days later it was released.

It’s now been almost 3 months since they released the iOS 4 update and there is still no video chat, so I figured it’s time to promote this page more and see if luck can strike twice!

Here’s the link:

No Nike+ heart rate monitor support in iOS 4.2 beta 1

by Justin Horn on Sep 15th, 2010 @ 4:04 pm

Unfortunately it looks like heart rate monitor support might be on hold till next years iOS 5 release and not in iOS 4.2 as I predicted. There is still about 8 weeks left in the beta cycle, but if a feature like this isn’t in beta 1, it’s probably not going to be a part of iOS 4.2.

New iPod touch only has 256MB of RAM

by Justin Horn on Sep 8th, 2010 @ 4:19 pm

iFixit on Twitter:

Breaking news: the iPod Touch has only 256 MB RAM, same Samsung part markings as iPad.

Very disappointing, but I guess when it’s selling at the $400 less than the iPhone, they got to cut something. Remember the iPhone 4 32GB is $699 – $400 subsidy from AT&T for that 2 year contract.
