new windows vista commercial hard to watch
dizzy says...
Well I just finished reading a post on Macenstein with a youtube video of the new ad campaign for windows vista. You know the one that’s supposed to combat the beloved mac vs pc commercials. The title of this post says it all…not only was it a horrible commercial in terms of getting a point across, it was actually painful to watch all one minute and 30 seconds of it! The only winner here is Jerry Seinfeld, who is also the only one laughing…all the way to the bank (to cash his cool 10 mill). So now that Dr. Macenstein has subjected me to this video I’m going to pass it along to you. Please remember that once you watch this, you can never unwatch it!

mophie juice pack 3g shipping on October 1st
UPDATE: From the mophie site “If you have previously signed up you are automatically entered in the October 1st drawing”
Well I’m not a winner…are you? If you weren’t one of the lucky 10 the good news is they are opening contest back up later today. So make sure you give it a second try to be part of the of lucky 20!
I don’t usually win things so I already have my juice pack on pre-order. So if you have same luck I do you should probably consider pre-ordering as well.

Wireless Amber Alerts
dizzy says...
I just saw a commercial for Wireless Amber Alerts and decided to visit the main Amber Alert Website to check it out. From here I found a link to the site dedicated to the wireless alert system (http://www.wirelessamberalerts.org). You can enter up to 5 different cities to receive alerts for…although they tell you most amber alerts are state wide so entering one city will probably be enough.
The only limit I see is the cost of text messages, but when it’s child’s life at stake I don’t think people will mind spending ten cents and a lot of people now have text messaging plans anyway. Would be great in the future if we get an Amber Alert app for the iPhone which can get notifications via the future push service. This could give more information than a text message as well as unchain the system from text messages.

google releases chrome web browser
dizzy says...
Google released a new open source web browser (google.com/chrome) based on apple’s webkit and also parts of firefox. Right now it’s only avaliable for windows, but I’m sure apple and linux version aren’t too far behind. As with all google projects for their first year or so this is “Google Chrome (BETA)“. The goal of this project is to deliver a simple, clean, and FAST browsing experience. I’ve read claims of browsers speeding up the internet with new versions, but none have been dramatic enough for me to really feel the difference until now…this thing is fast!
Although it’s fast (really fast) this isn’t going to replace firefox for me just yet as I love all the addons. One addon I can’t live without is mouse gestures which I started using before firefox was even called firefox. As this is an open source project I’m sure we will see features and improvments from chrome appear in safari and firefox in the future. I’m not so sure Internet Explorer will get much use out of this project because microsoft is allergic to google and anything open source ![]()

We all knew it was coming in september and now we know when. The “Let’s Rock” event to be held on September 9th in San Francisco at 10AM PT. There isn’t really an official word on what the event is about, but the accompanying image and name leads me to believe this is an iPod event. (more…)
