Send your Nike+ run directly from iPhone in OS 4.0 (updated)
by Justin Horn on Apr 8th, 2010 @ 6:58 pmUPDATE 3 Over the air sync makes it to the final iOS 4.1 GM, watch a video of it in action
UPDATE 2 Over the air sync reappears in iOS 4.1 beta 1
UPDATE Unfortunately this was removed during the beta cycle and does not appear in the final iOS 4 Golden Master. Here’s to hoping it comes back in iOS 4.1!
I’ve been using Nike+ for about 8 months now and love it. One thing that always seemed obvious to me for the iPhone version of the built in app was to send your run data right from the iPhone. This would have come in handy a couple times I was running while out of town, but lucky for me I was able to sync my runs through my MacBook…even though it wasn’t my master sync computer. From now on though I see myself just doing it on the phone, even at home.
All you do is tap “Send to Nike+” in your history. It sends the data to Nike+ and then opens up safari where you can then login to Nike+ to view your run. Going back to the history page when you have everything synced shows just a “Go to Nike+” link. This was still a bit buggy, but hopefully this is fixed in beta 2.

Thanks for this! Nike+OS4.0 was the first thing I searched for. Any other changes? It looks the same Aside from sync.
Besides that it seems the same. Also, they broke the “backgroundness” of it, you can’t have the lock screen home button give you updates. I’m sure this is just because it’s a beta and will be fixed soon.
Damn, I was hoping they’d added the ability to view the run graph on the iPhone like the newest Nano has, and also improved the listing to a calendar view, again like the nano has

Hello All,
Since I have put the iphone os 4.0 beta on my iphone I cannot sync my data with nike+ anymore
The data is in itunes but not on my nikeplus.com webpage.
Any suggestions?
@Tomasz It seems there is either a bug with sending data or there is something new in the data that the Nike+ website isn’t ready to accept yet. Also, the submit via the iPhone isn’t working correctly either. It’s a beta so you just have to accept it.
They also have allowed 3rd party accessories to make Nike+ obsolete, check out http://www.wahoofitness.com.
Hello Justin,
I made a mistake. On i0S 4.0 beta the “Send to Nike+” from iPhone was working (I mean with bugs) but now I am on iOS 4.0 GM (the final version) and it is not possible to synchronize because the “Send to Nike+” button disappeared.
