Password locked iPhone security bug fixed in iOS 4.2 beta
by Justin Horn on Oct 25th, 2010 @ 4:16 pmThe bug shown in the video below that allows someone to make non-emergency calls and view contacts (even send an email as pointed out by macstories), on a password locked iPhones is already fixed in iOS 4.2 beta. When trying to reproduce the error with iOS 4.2, the phone just locks and doesn’t allow any calls. The good thing is even though this is a pretty big hole, and attacker still can not gain access to your home screen. So I wouldn’t freak out too much, especially with the fix being released in the next month.
