From Tiger Woods to antenna gate, NMA’s latest animated cartoon

by Justin Horn on Jul 19th, 2010 @ 12:24 am

Got to love Taiwan’s NMA News…maybe not the best quality videos, but definitely some of the funniest! In this episode they cover the dropping bars, Jason Chen’s house being searched, and Consumer Reports.

You’ll also remember these other great videos NMA News has created:

Apple admitting flawed antenna design by giving out free bumpers?

by Justin Horn on Jul 16th, 2010 @ 7:06 pm

John Siracusa of ArsTechnica:

Were I allowed one more follow-up, I would have pointed out that Apple’s proposed solution, its bumper case, provides just a thin layer of rubber and plastic between the antenna and the user’s hand. If that actually mitigates the problem, as Apple claims, then it’s clear that even a thin layer between the user’s hand and the antenna can make a big difference.

Apple claims the external antenna is their best design yet. Hinting that skin contact doesn’t matter as all phones suffer from attenuation (and here are a bunch of videos to back that up). If this is the case, then as John Siracusa points out, doesn’t it seem a bit odd for them to give out bumpers? Especially when all the bumpers do is bring the iPhone 4 in line with the signal attenuation of other phones.

Skype missing from app store, iOS 4 update later today?

by Justin Horn on Jul 16th, 2010 @ 5:07 pm

UPDATE It’s back in the store and unfortunately the When Will Skype Release iOS 4 app website is still counting up.

Skype has just disappeared from the app store. Could this mean that new multitasking app will be coming out later today? It’s been 25 days since they said it was coming soon as per our awesome count up site [http://whenwillskypereleaseios4app.com], so it’s not out of the questions!

Although as 9to5Mac suggest, it could be down for a small bugfix update or even due to some legal reason, although the legal issue is highly doubtful).
