Skype delay due to iPhone OS 4.0?
by Justin Horn on Apr 8th, 2010 @ 1:35 pmSkype going into the background:
Whether you switch to another app or just put the phone in your pocket, Skype will be able to receive calls. When a call comes in, you’ll see a notification on the screen, and you’ll be able to pick it up with a single tap.
Ok, maybe we’ve all been a little too harsh on Skype. It seems possible now the secrecy surrounding the 3G app was due to working on an update with Apple to make it background compatible for the demo today. We all know how Apple likes secrets and what kind of force they have over other companies with their secrets, so it seems logical. Either way it’s obvious they are working on a big new version for iPhone, so we can finally put to bed those Verizon exclusivity rumors.
With Skype on 4.0 you’ll be able to be able to check movie times while still on a call! You can even receive a call while the phone is locked, probably using push notifications to save battery, but goes full background when you are on a call.
