gaming on the iPhone is dangerous… but so much fun…

It’s inevitable, whenever you have a device capable of displaying a pixel on a screen people will play games on them. And the iPhone and iPod Touch are no different. One of the very first app on the App Store was a game and many more have come out… And a few of these new games are right out dangerous, not necessarily to the players, but to people around and more importantly the phone or ipod itself. What games are these you ask?

iGolf

This game came out a few weeks ago and it involves swinging the phone as a golf club. At first it was only a driving range simulator, but a recent update added 3 holes to the game.

iBowl

This is another game from the same developer SGN. It’s very similar to the Wii Sports bowling game, where you press a button and swing the phone releasing the button to throw the ball.

PhoneSaber/Lightsaber

Granted, this is not much of a game, but put a Sith together with a Jedi and more likely than not a duel will occur. Specially now with the addition of music which sets the perfect mood for combat. Just remember to bow before a fight.

So, with all the swinging, it’s only a matter of time before we start seeing pictures of shattered iPods and iPhones. I guess the saying is true then… It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt… Lets hope no one gets hurt… And if you are a Jedi or a Sith you can just use the Force to save your phone…

hey, I was just wondering if these Dort of motion sensitive games would have an affect on your iPhones accelertormeter? Like within time it may not work properly or at all… Because I’ve heard of peoples iPhones accelertormeters not working as well as others… I was just wondering Is there anyway to damage it with excessive use?

@Cheese – as with any electronic component, there’s always risk of failure. but I don’t think using it would damage it in a serious way. I too have heard of some working better than others, but they seem to be isolated cases where the accelerometer was defective to begin with… I guess we will have to leave this question to the test of time… my prediction is the phone itself will break before the accelerometer
