iOS 5 allows you to change more alert sounds
by Justin Horn on Jun 6th, 2011 @ 7:55 pmNew Voicemail, New Mail, Sent Mail, and Calendar Alerts now have the option to pick different tones. Unfortunately you still can not use any custom tones (at this point), but you can choose from the classic tones and the new tones introduced in iOS 4.x. The same options are available on the iPad with iOS 5 as well.
