iTunes 8.2.1 breaks the Palm Pre sync, the war beings!
by Justin Horn on Jul 15th, 2009 @ 2:25 pmMany have speculated that Apple wouldn’t do this because it would serve no purpose for them to block this and start a feud with Palm. We even tossed around the idea of Apple killing the Pre sync a while back when 8.2 was released shortly before the Pre hit the streets. Well according to Pre|Central Apple has gone and done it for real this time with the iTunes 8.2.1 update:
It has begun. With the release of iTunes 8.2.1 (via TiPb), gut46 tells us, Palm Pre syncing with iTunes is indeed kaput. At least on this Pre user’s Mac, iTunes sync isn’t working after the 8.2.1 update.
When taking a look at the release notes…
iTunes 8.2.1 provides a number of important bug fixes and addresses an issue with verification of Apple devices.
…not only have busted the Pre sync, it looks like they did it on purpose and not as a side effect of another update.
