iPod Touch on the battlefield

Soldiers on the field are being issued iPod Touches to help them on certain tasks. From translation to identifying a location, the iPod Touch with its flexibility is proving to be a useful tool.
The $230 iPod is much more inexpensive than a device especifically created for the military and with a protective case they are tough enough to endure life on the frontlines. Right out of the box the iPod might not be of much use on the field, but with the right Apps they are helping soldiers with different tasks, from identifying suspects to calculating projectiles trayectories.
