Good thing RIM didn’t use this Storm commerical

by Justin Horn on Feb 27th, 2009 @ 2:39 pm

By now you know the Blackberry Storm has been a flop. Yes they have have made improvments to the software since the mucked up release, but it’s still a Storm.  In the unaired commercial below you can see RIM taking a direct jab at Apple. I guess my assumptions about the “emo pinata” being a joke on Apple’s touch screen keyboard were accurate. The reason why I think RIM is happy they never aired this commercial is because of the commercial end slogan,  “nothing can touch it”. My first thought when reading that is no one wants to touch it! :)

Safari 4 faster than chrome!

by Justin Horn on Feb 24th, 2009 @ 9:08 pm

Since I use a PC and Mac I’ve had the pleasure of using Google Chrome. It really is a lot faster at loading pages than IE or even Firefox, but it just doesn’t yet have the feature set for me to replace Firefox.

Now Safari 4 beta steps up to the plate and it’s actually faster than Chrome and being a much more feature rich browser that’s quite impressive. Yes, it only beat it by a small margin, but it beat it!

iMac refresh coming out sooner rather than later?

by Justin Horn on Feb 24th, 2009 @ 8:43 pm

MacNN is reporting:

Existing models of the computer are said to be in low supply with resellers, and Apple educational salesmen are reportedly being given the go-ahead to offer special discounts. An image has also been leaked of new marketing material, which touts NVIDIA graphics for both 20- and 24-inch sizes.

Related Poll: when will new iMac refresh be released?

MacBook as a media hub via Mini DisplayPort to HDMI

by Justin Horn on Feb 24th, 2009 @ 3:56 pm

In the last week or so I’ve been reading up on the new Mini DisplayPort included on the new MacBooks. I was thinking how great it would be to use my new MacBook as portable media hub that could easily be hooked up with one cable to any TV in my or a friends house. Even better I could use my iPhone as a remote!

It looks like my dreams have been answered by Monoprice.com!  …well almost. Looks like they will not be availble until March 15, but that isn’t too far away. The adapter come in at only $14.25 which isn’t bad at all. Keep in mind though that this is just an adapter, so if you don’t already have an HDMI cable handy you’ll need to pick one up as well for about $5.

Check back in a few weeks for my review of this setup.

I hope to see this in the next iTunes update

by Justin Horn on Feb 23rd, 2009 @ 10:49 am

I know I’m not the only one that has been frustrated when trying to organize apps on the iPhone. I’ve really avoided doing it, but just recently reorganized my 5 pages and it took much longer than it should have. I can’t even imagine the people that have 9 pages trying to organize everything!

Well someone has put together a concept video for organizing apps via iTunes. I have a feeling that Apple will do something like this, if not exactly. I really wish we already had this ability, but understand that it’s a bigger undertaking since it most likely requires an iPhone firmware update in addition to a updated version of iTunes. Hopefully there will be a big upgrade to iTunes and the iPhone firmware with the release of the 3rd gen iPhone!
