Apple and Adobe working to bring flash to iPhone?

by Justin Horn on Jan 31st, 2009 @ 6:49 pm

AppleInsider is reporting that flash might become a reality on the iPhone:

Once thought to be building Flash for the iPhone mostly on its own, Adobe has mentioned at the World Economic Forum that it’s not only continuing work on the animation plug-in but has teamed up with Apple to make it a reality.

Not a big deal in my opinion, but I know there is a lot of folks out there would love this almost as much as copy and paste.

How will we get our software 5 years from now?

by Justin Horn on Jan 29th, 2009 @ 3:48 pm

Just read an article on GadgetVenue discusing how many 3.5″ floppies it would take for many of today’s modern programs:

Photoshop CS4, a cut down version at that, would take up 358 floppies, while a copy of the Sims 3 game would take up a whopping 1760 floppy disks.

Pretty funny thinking about that! What this article did remind me is how much has changed over the years in regards to how users obtain their software. We have moved from floppy disc, to CDs, then DVDs, and some software and music is being delivered on flash memory sticks.

Third generation iPhone rumors emerge

by Justin Horn on Jan 29th, 2009 @ 11:23 am

Macrumors is in the headlines after finding what they believe is evidence of the next generation of iPhone.

MacRumors has discovered that Apple’s iPhone 2.x Firmware has evidence of the next generation iPhone which has been designated “iPhone2,1″. Apple uses these models numbers to distinguish between different hardware models. The original iPhone carries the model number of “iPhone 1,1″ while the 3G iPhone is labeled “iPhone 1,2″.

I can’t wait for the new iPhone to be released and confuse everyone due to the last phone being the “iPhone 3G” (due to it’s wireless data connection) and the new one being the third generation iPhone. Although I’m sure Apple has already thought of this and come up with a great name for it!

UPDATE Poll now posted!
when will 3rd generation iPhone be released?

iPhone 2.2.1 surprise update released

by Justin Horn on Jan 27th, 2009 @ 2:02 pm

Looks like I was wrong, at least partially wrong. My original time estimate for the next firmware release was right on target, but this is just a small bug fix release. Apple has released an incremental version update for the iPhone and iPod Touch to bring it up to version 2.2.1. An update like this is usually just for minor tweaks and bug fixes and does not introduce new features like a 2.3 or 3.0 would do.

So this does conclude the latest iPhone firmware poll when will iPhone 2.2.1 firmware be released? …and the winner of this latest When Will Apple poll is…we’ll be right back after this commercial break!

Ok, just kidding :) etedesco come on down to collect your prize!

Here are the release notes for 2.2.1:

iPhone 2.2.1 Software Update

This update contains bug fixes and improvements, including the following:
• Improved general stability of Safari
• Fixed issue where some images saved from Mail do not display correctly in the Camera Roll
