sub $1000 macbooks?
by Chiyin on Jul 25th, 2008 @ 11:04 amcould the “product transition” be the repricing of the macbook series to start at less than $1000? this is what a couple of articles over at arstechnica and appleinsider are saying…
some analyst are suggesting that apple might not include an optical drive in the new macbook to lower the cost… this move would follow the footstep of the macbook air which shipped without an optical drive… with increasingly more software and content being downloaded directly it’s not a crazy idea to forgo the optical drive altogether…
another possibility is a new pricing across the entire ipod line… apple is now in a position where they can afford to lower the price and make it up in volume… which is completely possible…
so I guess we will just need to sit and wait… you just gotta love apple and their marketing ways…
