AT&T boosts 3G speeds by 20% ahead of 3G iPhone launch
by Justin Horn on Jun 4th, 2008 @ 11:33 pm“AT&T announced Wednesday a more than 20% increase to the typical download speeds across its 3G wireless network and a 50% increase to typical upload speeds. Customers on the network should now achieved download speeds between 700 Kbps and 1.7 Mbps, up from 600 Kbps to 1.4 Mbps. Upload speeds should jump to the 500 Kbps – 1.2 Mbps range, up from 500 to 800 Kbps.”
Well this is just awesome! And over the next couple years this speed is supposed to keep going up. Kinda sad that the upload speed is before this increase was already better than my 6 Mbit ATT DSL with only 512 Kbps upload.
After reading the official news release they mention “LaptopConnect” customers, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for any 3g related devices. Plus who would get a LaptopConnect when they could just link their iPhone to their laptop?

Nice find,
Apple is still out of stock too!
good catch there demetri… so does this mean that next week we will have the new phone? I think we need to start planning out our camping strategy
Apple and AT&T can’t go a month without a iphone! With the instint, HTC diamond, Blackberry bold, LG VU, Apple will need to get the units out quick.
that’s true… there are many new phones coming out.. although the insticnt didn’t impress me that much… maybe it was the sprint commercial… hahah
