HTC Hero is here to save Andriod… I mean the day…
by Chiyin on Jun 24th, 2009 @ 1:45 pmAt an event in London today HTC announced their newest Android phone, the HTC Hero. Comparing it with T-Mobile’s myTouch, aka HTC Magic, this one looks much better. The phone will be available in Europe and Asia this summer and later this year in the USA. So it seems like there will be 2 new Android phones by the end of the year. Will the Hero be the Android’s savior? Or will the Magic save it? Will either of these phone herald in the era of the Google phone that the G1 failed to achieve last year? We will see.
One more thing… What’s up with that curve at the bottom of all these phones?

@Chiyin: any clues about the storage capabilities of this device? Can’t find anything (except ROM and RAM) on htc.com
hmm, I guess it’ll depend on the size of the microSD card, which will probably be slower than the iphone’s flash memory. I guess I’ll have to try it a bit before I buy it.
@Gubatron… yeah I think it will rely on the microSD card for storage… not sure what size of card it will come with or even if it will come included… I guess we will have to wait and see
i still have my g1 an have yet to upgrade to the mytouch… the lack of keyboard really uninterests me… all touch isnt the way to go… but this phone looks intreaging… I guess i’ll have to check this out.
@Kitty… Both myTouch and Hero don’t have physical keyboards… but that’s becoming the norm… If you don’t mind switching carrier, Verizon will have the Motorola Droid soon… Which does have a keyboard… As to when the HTC Hero will come save the Android State side? Who knows… it’s wait and see
My spouse and i obviously need to think far more in that direction to see things i can do regarding it.
