XP “upgrade” couldn’t save PC from Mac

by Chiyin on Dec 22nd, 2008 @ 10:56 am

I think this is a video from students at the Art Institutes… Thought it was funny the PC had to “upgrade” from Vista to XP in order to fight the Mac…

Poor PC, all alone at an art institute…

Farting all the way to the bank

by Justin Horn on Dec 22nd, 2008 @ 12:28 am

iFart Mobile and Pull My Finger have now become the number 3 and 4 top paid apps (as of December 22, 2008). UPDATE iFart has now moved to #2 and Pull My Finger has dropped to #6.

Mobile Orchard is reporting:

As an aside: As a 99 cent app and after Apple’s 30% commission, this means iFart has raked in $13,205 for Infomedia over 9 days.

I’m now in the process of starting to learn how to develop iPhone apps and had grand ideas of making useful and well design apps, but with this latest news I’m reconsidering. These developers might not have create apps that will win awards, but I don’t think they mind when they are farting all the way to the bank!

UPDATE Macrumors has chimed in about how much money iFart Mobile is making:

12/14 – 841 units – #76 overall
12/15 – 1510 units – #39 overall
12/16 – 1797 units – #22 overall
12/17 – 2836 units – #15 overall
12/18 – 3086 units – #10 overall
12/19 – 3117 units – #9 overall
12/20 – 5497 units, – #4 overall
12/21 – 9760 units
12/22 – 13274 units, #1 overall

After Apple’s 30% cut, that means the iFart Mobile has generated $9198 in one day.

Wow!

Best reason to jailbreak your iPhone

by Justin Horn on Dec 20th, 2008 @ 3:03 pm

Yes, Apple has recently let some more mature and silly apps through, but they have now blocked what surely would have been a best selling app…iBoobs. Even with all the fart apps now flooding the iTunes shelves, I just don’t see them bending on this one. I now have a good reason to jailbreak my iPhone if/when iBoobs makes its way to the iPhone’s seedy underworld! :)

Apple’s rejection email:

“Applications must not contain any Obscene, pornographic, offensive or defamatory content or materials of any kind (text, graphics, images, photographs, etc.), or other content or materials that in Apple’s reasonable judgment may be found objectionable by iPhone or iPod touch users.”

Google Chrome’s plugins get sad when they crash

by Justin Horn on Dec 20th, 2008 @ 2:33 pm

I’ve been giving Google’s Chrome browser a spin the last couple weeks on my PC. It’s a lot faster than Firefox (my browser of choice) and I love it, but it doesn’t have the feature set yet to rival Firefox…yet. Chrome is still under development for Mac OS, but you can enter you email here to be alerted when it’s available.

So I woke up this morning (afternoon) to find Vista letting me know that Chrome had crashed.  I clicked through the 3 or 4 dialog boxes about the crash and saw Chrome was still running. Upon further investigation when going to my Google Analytics tab I noticed Shockwave Flash had crashed and it didn’t look too happy about it.

I swear I didn’t Photoshop this

product review: Apple In-Ear Headphones… are 2 drivers better than 1?

by Chiyin on Dec 18th, 2008 @ 4:05 pm

Apple started shipping the new In-Ear Headphones a couple of weeks ago and I finally received mine on Monday… So, after a few days with them what am I to do? Write a review of course. I know there are a few of them out there, but none of them go into details about the sound quality nor how they compare with similarly priced headphones. This is my attempt to fill that void. Let’s begin, after the jump…

snow leopard to be shown at macworld 2009?

by Justin Horn on Dec 18th, 2008 @ 2:41 pm

The Guardian is hinting that Apple’s senior vice president Phil Schiller is going to present Snow Leopard at Macworld 2009.

Apple and its partners have been privately dropping hints to developers that its upcoming release of its Mac OS X operating system, dubbed Snow Leopard, will ship earlier than expected – and it will debut two new technologies that promise to speed up software without demanding any changes to the hardware.

The first technology, Grand Central, is designed to make better use of the Intel processors that sit inside the current range of Macs. The other, OpenCL, could have a more dramatic effect on performance for some programs as it will tap into the power of graphics processors (GPUs) that now goes to waste.

So these latest rumors say it is shipping ahead of schedule, but since there was never really a public schedule I don’t get it. The only thing we’ve heard thus far is that it would be shipping in the 1st quarter of 2009, which seems very likely to hold true. If they are truly “ahead of schedule” then I would assume a late January / early February release. If not then probably won’t happen until March.

Let us know when you think it will be coming out by voting in our in our Snow Leopard Release Poll. Registered voters are also eligible to win a copy of Snow Leopard when released!
