apple store las vegas: caesar palace + fashion show mall edition

to continue our cross country tour of Apple Stores here we present the Las Vegas edition… There are 3 stores in Vegas but I was only able to visit the Caesar Palace Forum location… The Fashion Show Mall was closed by the time I got there, who knew Vegas’ malls are not open 24/7… And the other one is very far from the action on the Strip… So, now the pictures…

Fashion Show Mall – Just a picture of a big billboard they had outside… There was also a huge screen where the new iPod nano commercial would play over and over and over… I tried to do handstands for you, I tried to do handstands for you, every time I fell on you yeah every time I fell, for you. Can’t help it the song is burned in my head now…

I’m a mac and I’m a gay porn star

Well, not really, but still a funny title. Justin Long isn’t really gay (I don’t think), but he plays a gay porn star in the upcoming movie “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” to be released on Halloween Day. new iMacs next in line for a refresh?

AppleInsider is saying that avoiding any last minute issues they expect to see the iMacs getting a refresh in the next month. There are no rumors for an exact date, like we had with the notebooks, but I’m sure in the next few weeks this will be the next wave of popular rumors to follow.

Steve puts out the FireWire on the low end, get over it!

Ok, the complaints about the copy/paste on the iPhone have now been surpased just days after the release of the new Macbooks on October 14th. I was just reading an article MacRumors titled “Steve Jobs on Lack of Firewire in MacBooks” and the comments on the forums to this article are actually more irritating than the copy paste arguments. I have a feeling the reason it’s more irritating is due to the fact that even though I don’t see this huge issue with not having copy/paste, I do see how it will be really nice to have when it’s released. I don’t think apple cut FireWire to save money or just for the hell of it.  They were limited with space and choose what they thought was more important and FireWire just didn’t make the cut.

I started a poll on MacRumors Forums to get a sample of these users although I have a feeling the results will be skewed in the favor of keeping FireWire.

my first apple store robbery

Well I went to my local apple store here in Miami to see if they had the new macbooks on display yet. I was just being an apple bum and hanging out talking to a friend that works there. He told me they got the new macbooks in that afternoon and they were in “the back”.  Because they didn’t get them till the afternoon they had to delay setting up the new displays until after they closed for the night.

Then out of nowhere I here the smack of a sneaker on the apple store floor followed by those annoying alarms sounding (yes, I’ve set them off accidentally before).  I turn around to see two kids, maybe 17 at most, running out the door with two of the old macbooks. Everyone was just kind of looking at each other with the classic WTF face on. There was no official security guard on duty since it was 9PM on a Wednesday and no one else ran after them. So as mentioned earlier this apple store was quite lucky that they were shipped the macbooks late so the only thing these kids accomplished was removing macbooks the staff would have removed a couple hours later anyway

So kids if you are going to steal from the apple store right after a new product announcement make sure they have the new ones on display before you steal them…dumb kids!

And for those ebayers out there…if you see 2 old school “used” macbooks on ebay shipping from Miami, take a pass.
