App Review: CleverMedia’s Free Style

Basically it’s a puzzle game where you move your game piece over red tiles and turn them green. You do this for each row while avoiding the X (landing on X ends the game) which moves around on the row randomly. Once you have no red tiles left you navigate your way to the passage to the next row. The puzzle itself isn’t all that challenging…it’s more of just moving back and forth and making sure not to move to a spot if there is an X on it. I think the game would draw me in more if the puzzle was less random and more pattern based to make more educated moves…maybe there is, but I don’t see it.

If you are looking for a quick game to kill some time it fits the bill, but it’s not as engaging as some other puzzle games. I couldn’t see myself sitting down and playing this for hours on end, but as this game is rated 4+ and has the fun music aspect I do think a younger audience may enjoy playing it more than I did.

Some more fuel to the iPad camera fire.  The photo app briefly shows a camera button at the top before disappearing.

Apple releases iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 3, then takes it down

Guess someone jumped the gun at Apple when they put beta 3 up as it was taken down (back to beta 2) shortly thereafter.  Hopefully that means there is some more interesting tidbits in here they didn’t want developers to see yet. Guess we should know soon enough.

simmer down people, the iPad is not even out yet…

The iPad was revealed a few weeks ago and it will ship in a few more weeks. Which means the device is not even available to the public yet and people are already complaining about missing features, cameras. They think it should do this like this or that like that. Point in case, this article from techradar.com is already talking about what 2.0 should have and the first one hasn’t even shipped. C’mon people, you haven’t even used the damn thing yet. Why can’t we just wait until we have one in our hands before we start whining about it?

You know what? I take it back… I want Apple to at least incorporate the following features before they start shipping the iPad

  • Get me coffee along with the news in the morning

  • Make me a sandwich for lunch

  • Turn into fluffy pillows so I can sleep comfortably with it in bed

  • With the press of a button it unfolds some wings and will function as a personal space shuttle

Are you reading this Steve? I want my damn iPad to fly…

iPad Safari limited to 9 tabs

Similar to the iPhone’s 8 tab limit, the iPad currently limits you to 9 tabs. So it seems not only are we missing background apps, they are also really limiting you on your browsing experience. My guess is Apple’s argument will be this is just for casual browsing and not meant to replace the computer or laptop where I’ve been known to have over 30 tabs open at one time.
