mythbusters evens the score on the iPod for zune fans

says...

Well even though this is an apple site, we like to keep it as fair and balanced as possible. In order to make up for the recent NBC Zune bashing with Chuck and then the next day with Conan O’Brien we bring you a clip of the latest MythBusters. This clips involves a ballistics dummy, an iPod, and an AK-47. The guys were testing a myth based on a report from a soldier being saved by his MP3 player while in combat.

One interesting thing I have noticed with MythBusters in general is their lack of product placement. You will see in the clip they refer to the iPod the whole time as an “MP3 player”. I’ve also seen them cover up the MacBook on the inside of the MacBook and the logo on the back. They do the same for their dell laptops, even though anyone with half a brain knows what they all are.

Here is the clip, but I warn apple lovers this isn’t easy to watch, but the Zune fans will enjoy it immensely!

simpsons update charlie brown from record to iPod

says...

In the latest Simpson’s Halloween special “Treehouse of Horror #19″ they do a take on “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!”. The interesting thing to me isn’t just that apple has made another product placement appearance in TV (cartoon or real), but the fact that is representing the digital age of music. From record players of the 1950s to iPod of the 2000s! This is similar to how the sony walkman was the representive of the non-digital portable music age.

Here is a Hulu clip (exclusive When Will Apple non-hulu video coming shortly)

voice commands coming to iPhone?

says...

MacNN is reporting that apple has filed a patent application for voice commands for the iPhone, iPod, and apple tv. This would be a great feature to add espeically to the iPhone since many other phones that are less advanced than the iPhone have this feature. Not sure when we would see this, but it will definetley help apple stay one step of all the “iPhone killers” out there.

Voice recogniation has been around for a while now, but in the last few years they seem to be making huge advances. So it’s good to see apple, masters of the user interface, really diving into this human-machine interaction as well. With advances in multitouch screens and voice commands over the next few years this is really going to change how we interact with machines in all areas of technology…and I can’t wait!

gaming on the iPhone is dangerous… but so much fun…

says...

It’s inevitable, whenever you have a device capable of displaying a pixel on a screen people will play games on them. And the iPhone and iPod Touch are no different. One of the very first app on the App Store was a game and many more have come out… And a few of these new games are right out dangerous, not necessarily to the players, but to people around and more importantly the phone or ipod itself. What games are these you ask? (continue reading…)

2nd gen iPod Touch shipped with firmware 2.1.1

says...

Something interesting has come to our attention… Apparently the new iPod Touch has firmware 2.1.1 instead of 2.1… As you can see in a picture Dizzy took at the 5th Ave Apple Store… However the update is not available for the first gen Touch, I just tried to update one and it said that 2.1 is the most current version

So is Apple releasing the firmware at a later time? Or is that a version specific for the new iPod Touch? This is starting to get confusing. Lets hope they don’t screw up by releasing too many versions…
