let’s rock was good, but no rabbits in the hat

says...

Well I know a lot of people might be disappointed by the event and I have to admit I was too at first.  Then I began to think about it more while preparing to write this post and they really did announce a lot of exciting stuff, espeically the new nanos. I think the problem is people (including myself) build up apple events so much that if Steve doesn’t pull a rabbit out of the hat at every event it comes off as a disappointment. Most of the “rabbits” that may have made the event more exciting were roaming the wild the last few weeks.

So here is a quick recap of what’s new… (continue reading…)

iPhones available at Best Buy… without contract?

says...

We all knew the phones were coming to a Best Buy near you and we also knew that eventually you could get it without contract. But does anyone know when they will start selling without a contract? I just saw this in today’s weekly ad

Now if you look at the small print it says “Reg. Price $599.99″ for the 8GB and “Reg. Price $699.99″ for the 16GB. And in the fine print it goes on to say that the $199.99 and $299.99 prices are after instant saving with a 2 year contract. But there’s nothing that says you require a contract to buy the phone.

So are they now available without a contract?

says...

In a previous post I compared an iMac with a similarly configured Dell XPS One desktop and found that their prices are fairly close. This time, I’ll take a look at notebook computers and see how they compare. Will the common assumption that Macs are more expensive hold true with notebooks? Or will it be debunked as with the desktops? Let’s find out… (continue reading…)

mac vs pc pricing: round 1 - desktops… fight!!!

says...

When it comes to comparing Mac and PC computers one of the main arguments is pricing. A lot of people are under the assumption that Apple computers are much more expensive than their PC counterparts. But this hasn’t been true for some time now. Since switching to Intel chips, mac prices are closely matching similarly configured pc computers. Before purchasing my iMac last year, I was seriously considering a Dell XPS desktop, but after comparing prices and configurations I opted to go with the Mac. That was a year ago when Dell didn’t have an All-in-One machine, so I wasn’t really comparing apples to apples, no pun intended. Now with the addition of the XPS One lets see how they compare… (continue reading…)
