Shortly after an update for iTunes version 8.0.2 was released on November 20th, iPhone 2.2 was released hours later on the 21st! (read more)

Make sure you update to the latest iTunes (8.0.2) before upgrading to make sure everything goes smoothly!

Well it's only been a short while since iPhone 2.1 firmware was released and 2.2 is already in the hands of beta testers. Some things that have been discovered so far include Google Streetview, Japanese emoji icons, and Auto-correction on/off switch. Although these have been discovered there is no telling if they will make it to the final version of 2.2. Some other hopes people have for 2.2 include Copy/Paste, Push Notifications, and MMS.

2.2 beta 2 has now been released (read more) and confirms street view and also adds public trans and walking directions!

Update 11.06.2008:
Latest rumors now have 2.2 beta including direct wifi and 3g (yes 3g) downloads of podcast! Still no rumors on a release date yet, stay tuned.

Reading some user comments on The iPhone Blog Forums it seems like there is 3g. So far Chicago, Michigan, and Minnesota have reported issues. BadAsh has confirmed there is no service in the Chicago area at all.

What’s weird is it doesn’t seem to be affecting everyone in the same way. Some user have no server, some can make outbound calls, but not inbound…and some in the same affected areas are working without issue!

Anyone else having issues in these or any other areas?

iFart Mobile and Pull My Finger have now become the number 3 and 4 top paid apps (as of December 22, 2008). UPDATE iFart has now moved to #2 and Pull My Finger has dropped to #6.

As an aside: As a 99 cent app and after Apple’s 30% commission, this means iFart has raked in $13,205 for Infomedia over 9 days.

I’m now in the process of starting to learn how to develop iPhone apps and had grand ideas of making useful and well design apps, but with this latest news I’m reconsidering. These developers might not have create apps that will win awards, but I don’t think they mind when they are farting all the way to the bank!

UPDATE Macrumors has chimed in about how much money iFart Mobile is making:

12/16 - 1797 units - #22 overall

Best reason to jailbreak your iPhone

Yes, Apple has recently let some more mature and silly apps through, but they have now blocked what surely would have been a best selling app…iBoobs. Even with all the fart apps now flooding the iTunes shelves, I just don’t see them bending on this one. I now have a good reason to jailbreak my iPhone if/when iBoobs makes its way to the iPhone’s seedy underworld! :)

Apple’s rejection email:

“Applications must not contain any Obscene, pornographic, offensive or defamatory content or materials of any kind (text, graphics, images, photographs, etc.), or other content or materials that in Apple’s reasonable judgment may be found objectionable by iPhone or iPod touch users.”

my new apple headphones… they are finally here

After waiting for a long time I finally received my new Apple In-Ear Headphones… Like anything Apple the headphones came in beautiful packaging… Along with the earbuds the content in the box included a carrying case, 3 sets of silicone ear tips (small and large in a separate carrying case and medium already inserted in the earbuds) and a set of replacement mesh caps…

Here are some pictures…

The pill like capsule is the carrying case for the extra silicone tips and the metal thing are the replacement mesh caps…

Now the question is… Are 2 drivers better than 1? Come back for a full review and comparison… I’m not an audiophile by any means, but I like music… a lot… So I’ll try to put the set through its paces and see how it fares…
