By now you’ve heard all about the iPhone 4 antenna issue. Apple finally responded, saying it was the display of bars and there was no antenna issue. This is an outright lie! The iPhone signal drop in hand is about 10x worse than it was with the 3GS. So while all phones may suffer from signal attenuation, the iPhone 4 suffers far more than others.
There are a lot of people that say they don’t have the issue. They are making this determination by looking at the bars. What they don’t realize is they are still losing signal, but going from a great signal to a good signal. This goes unnoticed as the phone still shows 5 bars and although diminished, it still has decent data and phone reception.
My prediction is once iOS 4.0.1 bug “bars” fix update is released, there are going to be a lot more people seeing the problem. Instead of from “dropping” from 5 bars to 5 bars, the “I don’t have an issue” crowd will see their 5 bars drop to 3 or 5. While less dramatic than the 5 to 1 drop, going from what they believed was a perfect signal with no effect in hand, to small drop is going to piss them off. They will assume Apple’s “fix” broke their perfectly working phone and the whole antenna issue will be on the front page again.
Antenna Issue, iOS 4, iPhone, Polls
Are you serious? Who made you the expert on antenna design? Like seriously people like you are those morons that decided to go out and bash apple for all their hard work. Guess what douche bag its not working because look at their stocks, and obviously people will forever buy their products. Why don’t you go play in traffic or something!!
Thanks for that, gave me a good laugh. You have now gone down in my book as best comment ever on When Will Apple!
Apple can’t fix the Antenna issue with software unless it is cranking the radio sensitivity as well as antenna output to compensate for the short circuit the hand makes across the antenna’s. If they did this, it would need to be recertified by the FCC if it cranked the output of the antenna to compensate.
My belief is that they are going to adjust the bar readout only & this is just a false fix. to the general public who doesnt know or care about how things work, it will seam to be a good fix because it will display more bars while the phone really has the same reception it had before the update. It is just changing the scaling on the signal meter. Typical type of BS for a company with a track record for lying to the public. Changing the scaling of the signal meter does not fix the massive & OBVIOUS design flaw.
Any dipshit EE would think that, “Hmm, the rabbit ears on my TV are drastically effected in a negative way by touching the antenna with my skin, maybe an external antenna that could be bridged by a skin to skin contact is badz”. The science behind why iPhone 4′s antenna is outright stupid is well known. Of course it would test just swell & better than any other design when not touched by skin in a lab. But We live in a real world, where we touch our phones with these things called hands. Steve BJobs & their clueless markineers wanted to market this concept & I’m sure foxconn said they were stupid for doing it, but here it is on the iPhone.
The Signal Meter Scaling is a fake fix & just one more reason why I hate crApple’s marketing & the corporation as a whole. But again, I do love my 03′ Apple stocks.
& to Justinh8r, You are an idiot. I have designed antenna’s MANY of them. the iPhone’s antenna is outright stupid in design. An antenna is tuned to a frequency range, it is WELL & COMMONLY known that an antenna even being in close proximity to another antenna will effect its tuning, & touching an antenna with skin will introduce all sorts of noise & your body will become part of the antenna which drastically skews the tuning. Hard work, no marketing yes. Apple is a marketing & hype master. Their products are subpar for the price, you are paying a premium for their marketing bill, not hard work. Stocks, I do stocks! I have LOTS of crApple stocks! You must not know a lot about stocks, cause it has little correlation to hard work & good products. It deals with sales & projected sales, & Apple has done a great job creating an elitist product line with an aura of superiority & high price that people will pay to get that experience. An apple computer costs around 500 to 1000 or more than a PC based computer WITH THE SAME EXACT HARDWARE. You are paying lots o money for the Marketing of Apple which is why the stock is high. You sir are a fanboi & it helps my apple stocks, but it makes me never wanna buy crApple.
