Apple release iOS 4.3 Golden Master to developers

by Justin Horn on Mar 3rd, 2011 @ 2:23 pm

With the public release about a week away, Apple has now finally seeded iOS 4.3 to developers.  If you’re not a developer, don’t worry, it’s only a week more.

The Oatmeal on Obama’s meeting with Jobs, Schmidt, and Zuckerberg

by Justin Horn on Feb 17th, 2011 @ 9:15 pm

The Oatmeal nails it! What’s interesting, it didn’t even occur to me that Microsoft wasn’t represented until reading this.  I guess my brain is already discounting them as innovators and views them more as keeping the status quo.

Apple working on a better notification system for iOS 5?

by Justin Horn on Feb 11th, 2011 @ 11:59 am

Cult of Mac:

Apple is working on a new notification system for iOS and will be buying a small company to build its technology into the operating system, according to one of our sources.

Our source, who asked to remain anonymous, didn’t know the identity of the company, except it already has an iPhone app in the App Store.

Not sure how good their source is, but with copy/paste and multitasking out of the way, it does make sense that notifications are now at the top of Apple’s to do list.

For me, notifications are my single (only?) biggest issue with iOS. When I see others with their Android devices, I laugh, but I’ve always been jealous of those WebOS notifications. As this is a major overhaul to iOS, like copy/paste and multitasking, we won’t hear anything from Apple about this until iOS 5 is announced at a special event in March / April or WWDC in June.

Happy New Year 2011!

by Justin Horn on Dec 31st, 2010 @ 12:10 pm

Just wanted to wish all our When Will Apple readers a happy and safe New Year! Lots of new Apple release around the corner, so we’ll be adding some new release date polls early next year. I’m thinking we could start with the Verizon iPhone (since it finally seems like the real deal this time), then move to the iPad 2, then iPhone 5…and I’m sure there will be other little surprises along the way!

Bed intruder guy, now iPhone app pitchman

by admin on Oct 25th, 2010 @ 12:06 pm

You’ll remember Antoine Dodson from the “Bed Intruder” song. Since then he’s had the interview autotuned and put on the iTunes store. Now he got another gig, becoming the pitchman for the Sex Offender Tracker app [iTunes link]. Glad his sister was only an attempted rape victim or else the whole Antoine story would not be quite as funny.

Original news “interview”:
