What’s this weird button when viewing camera roll on iOS 4.2?
by Justin Horn on Sep 17th, 2010 @ 10:13 pmUPDATE According to Grady Haynes and Mark Gurman this is a buggy AirPlay for showing photos on Apple TV. Looking at it now, I guess I should have thought of that, but hey, I’m fighting a cold.
You see that radio looking icon in the top right? Not sure what this is, but it doesn’t show up all the time. I’ve only seen it appear on 2 occasions out of several time looking at the camera roll. When you tap the icon it dims the background and brings up 2 buttons, iPhone and Cancel. Tapping either button does nothing.
I’m hoping this could be an unfinished feature for building photo galleries directly on the iPhone, without the need to download the camera and build them on a Mac or PC. Apple did finally add the ability to create playlist on the iPhone, so it doesn’t seem that far fetched. What do you think?

its for airtunes i think.
It is Airplay for photos ( and more ). Steve announced that you could come home look at some photos on your iPhone ( running iOS 4.2 ) and “with the push of a button” throw them up on your big screen TV, with the help of the new Apple TV and Airplay. Audio, Video, Photos, all using Airplay over Wifi, from the iPhone and iPad to the Apple TV. Can’t wait !!
