iPhone 4 early arrival confirms HD video file size
by Justin Horn on Jun 22nd, 2010 @ 4:57 pmI first tried to estimate the iPhone 4 HD video file size here and came up with a range of 79-118 MB / min depending on a compression ratio of 40:1 to 60:1. Then a Czech website posted some videos that confirmed my estimation coming in around 83 MB / min on the high end of the compression ratio close to 60:1.
Today Loyal Moses got his iPhone 4 two days early. He was kind enough to send a 20 second HD video our way. We crunched the numbers and it came out to about 80 MB / min further confirming the HD video size on a production iPhone 4. Glad to see Apple was able to crank up the compression ratio from 40:1 (3GS) to 60:1 on the iPhone 4.
